Sushi rice and seafood, etc. Rolled in dried seaweed sheets. There are countless varieties of sushi rolls differing in ingredients and thickness. Sushi rolls prepared "inside out" are very popular outside of japan, but rarely found in japan.
Oshizushi is pressed sushi, in which the fish is pressed onto the sushi rice in a wooden box. The picture shows trout oshizushi in form of a popular ekiben (train station lunch box).
Hello, do you guys do take out sushi ??
No offense but 15 dollars for california roll with imitation crab, 38 for rainbow roll is outrageous!
MoreSome of the best sushi I've ever had in my life!
The sushi is excellent
Had a great dinner at Sushi Paradise. The nigiri sushis were yummy - I love how the sushi rice is small with larger fish on top (unlike many other sushi places where the nigiri is mostly rice). It's not as small as nearby Koiso sushi bar and much easier to get a seat without reservation many days ahead. Plenty of parking in the lot. Easy place to spot while driving down South Kihei Road.
MoreFood is delicious! Best sushi around!
Amazing place, nice staff and great atmosphere. All of the fish was fresh and delicious. Me and my grandmother go whenever we can.
MoreThis is definitely the best sushi on Maui. We eat here regularly and are never disappointed. Always crowded. Come an hour early to get a counter seat.
MoreThe sushi is the freshest, Alisa, the hostess is the friendliest, and sushi Chef Watanabe uses the most precision with each order. We highly recommend this place to all of our friends and come here at least once a week. The sashimi dinner, salmon skin salad and the ikura, uni and oysters are the best I've ever had.
MoreAuthentic sushi. I love Japanese food and I've been to Japan, this is the place to go if you care about the quality of sushi. Always crowded but the food is worth the wait.
MoreWorth the wait!
Lol this place is awesome. Food and service is amazing. And to all the one star reviews: if you cant handle being in a local restaraunt then leave. If you can't be patient and respectful to the local owners, then they wont be to you. They don't need rude customers like that. The food there is prepared by the ONE AND ONLY CHEF in that restaraunt. Not to mention I think there's only 1 waitress. So if you go on a busy day or even if you make resarvation you'll have to wait no matter what if you want the finest sushi (among other things). But if you're so impatient then take a 20 min drive to Genki Sushi (if you like frozen and cheap sushi)
MoreSushi Paradise is Maui's hidden gem when it comes to good sushi! We always get the Paradise dinner which come with a sashimi platter and nigiri platter and a roll of your choice. Enough for 2 and very worth the price. Beet and spicy Scallops are bomb also the fresh uni! Spicy salmon roll is topped with alot of avocado and delicious!
MoreI wish I could judge the food, we made a reservation to be told that it may take an hour for our food to be prepared when there were three other tables. Not sure if they didn't want our business, but when we decided to leave we found out she didn't even know our name to our reservation. Price point was for fine dining, but decor definitely does not match up.
MoreDidn't decide to eat here because just about every roll costs $20 and up
Tried many sushi places in Maui. Paradise is always the best.
Always amazing sushi. My wife has been taking about their Chawanmushi from out previous visit a few years ago and they did not disappoint this time. My son was amazed be their saki maki and we ordered the chef's choice sashimi. It's easily the best place to eat sushi in Maui if high grade sushi and variety is what you like.
MoreThe BEST sushi on Maui. The chef is a true master of his craft. Be prepared to wait as he is the only chef for the entire restaurant...but it is more than worth it! Only the best quality and finest ingredients are used. Aunty waiting the tables is actually very kind, but she is busy waiting all tables by herself. Folks who say they had to wait too long need to slow down. Learn how to enjoy a meal and the company you dine with.
MoreAmazing Japanese food, excellent service. Only one chef who is wonderful. One hard working server. Small restaurant, be respectful and appreciative, they work hard to offer the best. Arrive early, be patient and enjoy. This is a special place, savor it.
MoreThe best
Very good sushi, more traditional, small place, but worth the wait. Not fancy. One of the better sushi houses on Maui
MoreGood things are worth waiting for. Amazing sushi and chef. It’s a small place and extremely popular and well known for a good reason. No, they don’t know who you are and they don’t care.
MoreGreat sushi
Absolutely great. Some of the best sushi on Maui!
If you're a sushi lover, this is the place to go! I recommend it to all of my clients that are sushi lovers. Chef Watanabe is an artist at what he does and he does it well. Opens at 6 but is always busy til they close. If you want the counter get there early because it's first come, first serve.
MoreFood is delicious and the staff friendly and helpful. If you like sushi, sashimi this is the place
MoreMake reservations. Food and service was great. Will go back when we come back next year.
MoreMy favorite Maui spot. Watanabe San serves quality over quantity and Alyss provides straightforward service. There is only one sushi chef so the wait can be long if you’re not the first few parties in. The wait is worth it.
Morethe most amazing and authentic in Japanese Cuisine
The food is AMAZING, well worth the wait. I would fly to Maui just for dinner at this place.
MoreSushi takes long when busy but WORTH IT
Some of the best sushi I have had! :). Good family atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!!
MoreDelicious and authentic.
Very delicious. Their fish is very fresh and prepared with a lot of care. We had all ala cart sushi and it was great. As always my favorite was the sweet shrimp. A little sad they don’t prepare head though. I’ll definitely be back.
MoreVery hard to find good food on the island. With that said this is the best sushi on Maui, becoming a regular because the food is just so good.
MoreWe come back every year and the sushi could not be fresher or better prepared. Presentation is great. Very generous amounts of fish on every dish. It's like coming home.
MoreGreat chef, great sushi. The fish is so fresh that the Toro melts in your mouth. They take their time here, but it is well worth the wait
MoreBest sushi and ice cream on the island!
Sushi is very delicious. Unfortunately the entire dining experience is completely ruined by the hostess/waitrees. I can't recall having been treated so poorly. She must be the chef's wife.
MoreI believe this is the best sushi on island, always perfect when we go!!
Really authentic Japanese food. So fresh! Like the food I had in Japan when I visited.Call to Make a reservation is critical to secure a seat. They don't have a website. Dinner only!
MoreThe wait is so worth it! All freshly made and delicious!
Delicious sushi, good companies, good drinks. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because of the wait. It is a long wait. We don't really mind some wait but it is too long of a wait even for us. Go early or go later in the evening.
MoreAmazing sushi!!
Lovely food, amazing chef, kind lady to bring us tea. Highly recommend this small, cozy place where the best place to sit is at the counter to watch chef Watanabe work his magic
MoreGreat sushi. Make sure you make a reservation.
Possibly the best sashimi I have ever had. You must have reservations and it may still take some time to get your food but the wait it well worth it. Don't go here if you're in a hurry.
MoreTo those who do not understand Sushi paradise is an experience where amazing food is done by an amazing chef. You wait because everything served is prepared individually and fresh to order. The chef is an artist who takes great pride in his craft. Auntie who sits and serves you is a great support to him. So yes, come prepared to possibly wait for some of the best sushi you will ever experince.. and no we are not related ..
MoreRead reviews on Yelp and they definitely did NOT help the consumer out. Need reservations? Really... We followed that advice and literally were the only ones in there at, what should have been, a very busy dinner hour. That said, they do make good sushi (or what we tried of it), as it definitely is a 100-200% markup over every other sushi place we've been to (and we've tried quite a few). Must be the island upcharge. We should have walked out and headed some place else (given the additional reviews I read this morning, some have). We usually spend anywhere between $80-100 for our meals out here in Maui, but this 'budget' sushi place would have set us back $250 (if we had ordered what usually do). Maybe if it had been in the Fairmont or the Four Seasons, but not some strip mall sushi place.
MoreAmazing food and awesome service!!
